Fun and Friendship at School
Last Tuesday afternoon, 24th March, we attended Grange Primary School for a Fun and Friendship craft session. Our theme was ‘Our Wonderful World’.
There is always an exciting buzz in the hall as the children make their way in. We start with a short talk by Annette, followed by the song ‘My Lighthouse’, then separate for small group activities.
This session we made adorable, woolly sheep, a tissue paper map of the world, coloured in animals and faces, and decorated biscuits to represent insects. The children are a delight and one of the pleasures of attending is when they show you their artwork. It is a privilege.
The session always finishes with the children and Annette holding a short discussion and a prayer. Then it is a quick tidy-up and off back home. We always like to display some of the craft work at the front of the church, so look out for the map of the world.
There are four things which impress me about these sessions: the lovely, warm and inclusive behaviour of all the children, the fantastic turnout of church members, Gill’s comprehensive knowledge of all things crafty, and Annette’s amazing wardrobe of colourful jumpers. I started attending because I thought I could at least help, I now go because I enjoy it so much.
